Dominic Ciminello
Dominic manages patent portfolios for several clients providing IP counseling and advising them on IP strategies. He prepares patents and prosecutes both U.S. and foreign applications in the mechanical and electro-mechanical arts. He has been involved in plastics and packaging technologies, medical devices, diesel engine technology, exhaust and fluid filtration, thermal imaging and marking devices, and high-speed shutter assemblies.
Dominic has extensive litigation, counseling, and opinion experience in the medical device field. He has acted as in-house patent counsel, managed prosecution dockets, and performed patent portfolio analysis for various clients. He also assists with trademark prosecution, agreement drafting, and intellectual property due diligence reviews for various corporate clients.
In addition to his practice, Dominic is an adjunct professor and a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council at the St. John Fisher College School of Business. He has served as a guest lecturer at Case Western Reserve University, Virginia Tech, the Rochester Institute of Technology, and the State University of New York at Buffalo, and has published several articles on intellectual property law. Dominic is a past president of the Rochester Intellectual Property Law Associations and is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
