Bert specializes in inventor counseling, invention harvesting, and advanced patent preparation and prosecution in the software industry and software-based companies. He also focuses his practice on due diligence matters, infringement and validity opinions and portfolio analysis. He has extensive experience in wide range of technology areas including virtualization and cloud computing, payment processing, augmented and virtual reality and other various software applications and business methods.
Bert holds an MBA, BS in Computer Science and a Law degree which gives him the rare aptitude to combine technical and business savvy to provide superior counseling. He is also has been selected to the 2024 Washington Super Lawyers Rising Stars list for his work in intellectual property.
Prior to joining Lee & Hayes, Bert worked as a Senior Associate Attorney for a firm in Seattle; an associate at a large nationwide law firm where he counseled several Fortune 500 companies; intern at Amazon’s Intellectual Property group working on patent acquisitions and licensing, and a software developer in the Aerospace industry for over 5 years, where he developed code for 3D modeling software.
