Joel Lohrmeyer

Joel counsels clients on intellectual property rights and leveraging IP strategies. He is well versed in analyzing patent portfolios, drafting and prosecuting patent applications, performing patentability searches, and writing associated opinions. Joel researches and drafts detailed and substantive motions including summary judgment motions seeking copyright infringement, motions for attorney’s fees, and motions to strike.

Joel’s breadth of technical experience spans from internet commerce, software, aircraft, electrical energy management, internal combustion engines and valves, to digital imaging devices.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Joel worked as a Project Engineer for Aerojet, GenCorp Company where he developed new rocket chamber technology.  He was an advisor on the manufacturing process refinement of electrochemical metal deposition and oversaw the assembly and hot-fire testing of optimized bipropellant engines. While obtaining his Masters degree, Joel was an instructor at the University of Washington teaching courses in Computer Tools for Aerospace and Aerospace Structures. He currently teaches a Law for Engineers course to engineers of all disciplines at the University of Washington. Joel also worked as a Technology and Entrepreneurship Fellow to identify and commercialize university developed technology.

Joel supports the community by working as a Small Claims Court Mediator and a Volunteer Attorney with the King County Bar Association’s Housing Justice Project.
